Abhisit Vejjajiva (Prime Minister,Thailand)

Red shirt demonstrators were dispersed by the Govt troops last week in Bangkok. At least 50 people died and more than 400 got injured in the clashes. Curfew, which was imposed when troops moved in to quell the protests,  has now been lifted but emergency in 24 out of 76 provinces is still on.

Arrest warrant has been issued against former PM Thaskin on charges of inciting the protests and terrorism. Thaskin is not in Thailand and is living in self exile.

PM Abhisit has said that everything is fine and country is fast returning to normal.

It appears that situation has been brought under control for the time being. How long this lull will last before another storm brews in is any body’s guess. Let us hope that calm and peace prevails in Thailand.
