French connection between Tennis and Football 2010 Championships

In sports, Tennis on June 7, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Francesca Schiavone of Italy created a history by becoming first ever Italian woman to win a grand slam singles title when she defeated Australian Samantha Stosur in two straight sets and picked up women’s singles crown of 2010 French Open in Paris on Saturday.

Well done Francesca, you and Italy deserve this. Celebrate & rejoice.

Rafael Nadal of Spain recaptured French Open crown on Sunday at Roland Garros Paris by defeating Sweden’s Robin Soderling in three straight sets.

Nadal has thus become second person after Borg to win this coveted title for fifth time. Borg however still holds the record with six singles French crowns. Hopefully Nadal ,the king of clay, will equal this feat in 2011.

This win has also propelled Nadal to No 1 spot in world ranking; Roger Federrer is at the second position now. Will Nadal be able to maintain his top rank? Tennis prowess and current form of Nadal confirms. Celebration times for Spain.

Does Italian and Spanish victory in France give any indication of performance & results in FIFA World Cup 2010?
