Abby Sunderland, a 16 year young courageous girl from California USA, has set herself out on an around the world non stop solo sail.

She began her journey in a small 40 feet sailboat from California on 23 January 10.Yesterday she encountered rough weather in Indian Ocean and her sailboat has started drifting probably due to falling of mast. She accordingly triggered the distress signal and search & rescue efforts from multiple sources, including her parents and friends, are on to reach her.

Abby is a very confident, determined and skilled sailor; her boat is well stocked with whatever she will need to overcome this emergency. Let us all prey that she negotiates this rough and comes out with flying colours to complete her mission successfully by 19 August 10 ie two months ahead of her 17th birthday.

Coincidently Jessica Watson of Australia took over the distinction of being the youngest person (three days before her 17th birthday) to sail solo around the world nonstop last month only from Abby’s elder brother zac who achieved this feat last year.
