Israel-Lebanon Border Clash

Rising tension along the Israeli-Lebanese border erupted into a military confrontation on Tuesday. An Israeli colonel, three Lebanese soldiers and a Lebanese journalist were killed in this clash.

The Israeli military said its forces came under fire from Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) while carrying out routine maintenance in Israeli territory. As per them the work was co-ordinated with Unifil.

Spain and Netherlands fined by FIFA for Final Fouls

On 3rd August 2010, FIFA has slapped the Dutch federation with a fine of $14,480 for eight yellow cards where as Spain has been ordered to pay $9,650 for five of its players who were cautioned during the final match of FIFA World Cup 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The fines were levied under FIFA code, which allows for a federation to be fined when at least five of its players are issued yellow cards.
