Wishing M S Dhoni a very happy……..

In Cricket, sports on July 7, 2010 at 8:41 am

True to his uncanny style of captaincy, this time Dhoni has surprised the media and his followers alike by quick fire engagement and marriage on 3rd & 4th July 2010.

No one had an iota of inkling about Dhoni’s impending engagement with Sakshi till it was revealed after solemnization. The entire media was pleasantly shocked and went in an over drive to make up for deficiency in their reporting of Dhoni’s selection of Sakshi and engagement.

When the entire media was busy in belting out their firsts and eye witness accounts of engagement, Dhoni played the master stroke. Without giving any time to the media to recover from his engagement surprise, he executed an exquisite & glorious marriage drive. The media was once again literally groping in the dark and worked over time in putting together and recreating the sequence of events for their starved viewers.

Now you know why Dhoni’s opponent on the cricket field are always caught by him on wrong foot and what is the secret of his success ?

Well Done MSD ! We all wish you a very happy & prosperous wedded life and a very happy Birth Day.

Javed Miandad

Javed Miandad’s famous six of the last ball from Chetan Sharma in the 1986 Australasia Cup final match at Sharjah was imprinted in the memory of every cricket lover in India as well as Pakistan, of-course for different reasons ie anguish and joy respectively.

Change of scene, 2010 Asia Cup league match between India and Pakistan at Dambulla in Sri Lanka. India needed 3 runs to win from last 2 balls with 3 wickets in hand. Harbhajan was on strike against Mohammed Aamer. The penultimate ball of the match was belted for a six by Harbhajan to record a nail biting win which knocked out Pakistan from the tournament.

Harbhajhan Singh

Can we compare these two scenes and sixes ?

Can we call it “tit for tat” ?

Probably no. Wait is not yet over !

Lessons learnt at Zimbabwe

In Cricket, sports on June 6, 2010 at 4:49 am

Indian cricket team is currently touring Zimbabwe and have already been drubbed out of one day tri series by losing three out of four matches. A very poor performance indeed!

One knows that best way to succeed is to learn lessons from every success as well as failure. Indian cricket board and players will do good if they learn following lessons from this debacle:-

  • Never ever underestimate your opponent.
  • Confidence is good for success but overconfidence is forerunner for failure.
  • One must always put the best foot forward.
  • Always aim and play for the victory.
  • Training of new talent is an house affair and they should not be trained at the cost of losing international fixtures & matches.

Let us hope that lessons will be learnt well and we as a cricket loving nation won’t be let down again.
