Robert Blackwill recommends partition of Afghanistan

Robert Blackwill, who was Condolezza Rice’s deputy as National Security Adviser in 2003 to 2004, will use a speech at the International Institute of Strategic Studies think tank in London on Monday to call on President Barack Obama to make drastratic changes in the war’s objectives. He told The Daily Telegraph that the surge of forces launched last year to stabiliseAfghanistan was “high likely” to fail and that the death toll in the conflict was too high a price to pay……….

Obama declares emergency as storm nears east coast

The eastern coast states of the US are today preparing evacuation plans to be put in to operation if hurricane Earl moves inland instead of glancing the shoreline.

President Obama has authorised the department of homeland security and the Federal Emergencies Management Agency to co-ordinate disaster relief. This  move  will permit rapid movement of equipment and other resources if the hurricane threatens the most densely populated area of the country……..

Iraq combat mission declared close by President Obama

The US combat mission in Iraq officially ended at 5 pm ET Tuesday, after more than seven years of the US led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.About 50,000 US troops will remain in Iraq until the end of 2011 to train, assist and advise Iraqi troops. Their stay may extend if Iraq requests  and the United States agrees……..
