Existing ROE to continue in Afghanistan

General David Petraeus has reaffirmed the Rules Of Engagement (ROE) ordered by his predecessor, Stanley McChrystal.

The General has updated the existing ROE.He writes that,

“We must continue – indeed, redouble – our efforts to reduce the loss of innocent civilian life to an absolute minimum. Every Afghan civilian death diminishes our cause. Subordinate commanders are not authorized to further restrict this guidance without my approval…..

Israel-Lebanon Border Clash

Rising tension along the Israeli-Lebanese border erupted into a military confrontation on Tuesday. An Israeli colonel, three Lebanese soldiers and a Lebanese journalist were killed in this clash.

The Israeli military said its forces came under fire from Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) while carrying out routine maintenance in Israeli territory. As per them the work was co-ordinated with Unifil.
