Nadal Wins Wimbledon 2010! (Mens Singles)

Second seed Rafael Nadal defeated Czech giant slayer Berdych in three straight sets to claim the second Men’s Singles Wimbledon Title.

Nadal achieved this feat comfortably with a score of 6-3,7-5,6-4 .

This second Wimbledon title came to Nadal after a gap of  one year as his first Singles title was won in 2008.

This is second Grand Slam title in year 2010. The first one being French Open(Roland Garros)

With this win Nadal continues his reign as World Number 1.

Serena Williams retains Wimbledon Ladies Singles Crown

As expected reigning champion and top seed Serena totally outclassed 21st seed Vera Zvonareva in ladies singles final and retained her crown at centre court.

Serena won the one sided contest comfortably in two straight sets by6-3 & 6-2.

Wimbledon 2010:Line up for Men’s Singles Final

12th seed giant slayer Tomas Berdych overpowered 3rd seed Novak Djokovic in first Men’s  Singles Semi finals in straight sets by the score of-

6-3,7-6,6-3

Djokovic had no answer for the strong service of Berdych. He has thus earned well deserved place in the final match up for the title which is his first ever Grand Slam final appearance.

The second semi final between Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal was also a one sided affair. Nadal comprehensively defeated Murray in three straight sets by 6-4, 7-6, 6-4.

Murray repeated the last years wimbledon performance where also he was ousted in the semifinal.

Nadal, the winner of 2009 Wimbledon, seems to be on a roll after winning this year’s French Open and will now go all guns blazing to tame the giant killer Berdych. All Wimbledon lovers are in for an exciting contest at centre court on Sunday.

Wimbledon 2010: Line up for Ladies Singles Final

As expected top seed Serena Williams entered ladies singles final by brushing aside challenge from Kvitova in two straight sets 7-6 & 6-2.

Vera Zvonareva, the 21st seed, overcame T Pironkova’s resistance by 3-6, 6-3 & 6-2 to book a berth in final against Serena.

The ladies singles final will be played at the centre court on Saturday. If all goes well, Serena is sure to retain the coveted trophy which she won in 2009.

Wimbledon 2010 Singles Semifinal Line Up

Wimbledon 2010 is now peaking.

Ladies’ singles semifinal matches are being played today at centre court. 1st match is between 21st seed Vera Zvonareva of Russia and unseeded Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. The second semifinal is between top seed Serena Williams of USA and unseeded Petra Kvitova of CZE.

All seeded players except Serena have already been ousted. Serena Williams, the top seed, is thus an outright favorite to win the crown in absence of any worthwhile opposition.

Men’s singles semifinal line up, on the other hand, is as per seedings except the top seeded Roger Federer who was defeated by Berdych in quarter final. Semifinals are scheduled between 2nd seed Nadal & 4th seeded Murray and 3rd seed Djokovic & the giant killer Berdych.

Predicting with certainty for men’s singles will be foolhardy as all of them are capable of defeating anyone on their day.

Wimbledon 2010: Federer stunned by Berdych!

The biggest upset of the tournament has just happened with Berdych ousting top seed Roger Federer  who was gunning for record equaling 7th win at wimbledon lawns.

The 12th seed Czech player defeated the reigning champion in quarter final with a score of-

6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4

For the first time since 2002,Federer has failed to reach the final.

Let us wait and watch how far does this giant slayer will travel in the tournament and who will be the new champ at strawberry & cream lawns.
